Hazaribagh sits on a high plateau of forest, lakes and sloping stone ground, with cool nights, a real monsoon and sites that rarely come flat. That shapes how we design there. We keep earthwork to a minimum, step buildings down the contour instead of cutting a level pad, and thread structures between existing trees so the tree line still reads from a distance. Local stone and a warm, weathering material palette let a building settle into the setting rather than shout over it, and deep verandahs and generous glazing turn the valley views and monsoon light into the main event. The plateau's growing pull as a weekend and tourism destination — close to the national park and the lakes — also means more resort, homestay and second-home briefs, where the design has to feel restful and low-maintenance through wet summers and cold winters alike. Our twenty-key forest resort above Hazaribagh is a clear example: light steel-framed cottages on stilts linked by a stepped timber walkway, with a clubhouse and infinity pool on the lowest terrace facing the valley.
